September 2008 Board Minutes

Call to Order - 11:05 a.m. by President Mark Linderman.

Present: Waketha Downs, Daryl Greene, Robin Henry, Ed Hoffman, Mark Linderman, Eric Marsh, Barb Orbik, Jeff Plasterer, Billy Porch, Phil Quinn, Valerie Shaffer and Rob Zinkan.
Staff: John Dalton, John Schuerman and Diane Lucas.

Approval of Minutes
August Minutes: Phil Quinn moved, with Barb Orbik giving the second, that the Board unanimously accepts the minutes of August 12, 2008. Minutes approved.

Treasurer’s Report
Barb Orbik presented the Treasurer’s Report. Barb noted that the report reflects membership fees from Ivy Tech. Both the income and expense columns are looking good. The $150 negative amount shown is a line item adjustment, moving the cost of software into the appropriate account. Ed Hoffman moved, with Rob Zinkan giving the second, and the Treasurer’s Report was approved.

Director’s Report
John Dalton reported that we have more than doubled our money in the Silver Eagle Money Market since we opened it with $75,000 in December 2005; the current balance is approximately $166,000. As $100,000 is insured by FDIC, some funds may need to be moved.
A 600-piece mailing recently went out regarding the Auction. Items have begun to come in and people have been interested in helping and appearing on TV. G101.3 and Warm Glow are one-hour sponsors, and we would like to find another two sponsors. John circulated a list of previous Auction contributors to the board members, asking if there were former Auction donors that board members would feel comfortable in calling.

John talked to Ron Cross, who will look into the situation with Comcast and WCTV’s capital equipment money.

The audit is underway with Webb and Associates. John has been submitting the requested documents.

There is a lot of community interest in continuing with the RP&L weather channel, which was recently shut off by Comcast. John and John Schuerman met with RP&L and discussed the possibility of WCTV picking up the weather radar.

There are currently a number of ongoing projects in production, including the Model T, Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame, JA Hall of Fame, the Reid move on Sept. 10, and the IU East sports schedule. Future projects include the Auction, Election Day, the Salvation Army Christmas show, the Santa show, a WCTV Christmas show with Charlie Estes and more.

Good of the Order
Daryl Greene thanked WCTV for the good convention coverage. Ed Hoffman liked the comprehensive coverage of the Starr Gennett Walk of Fame event.

Adjournment - 11:35 a.m.
